Claudette Thomas - Owner/Teacher

Claudette Thomas has been in the Pilates world since the mid-90s when she discovered the work of Joseph Pilates first in a dream and then while walking down an aisle in the public library when a book literally flew off the shelf and onto the floor in front of her. No kidding! It was Return To Life Through Contrology by Joseph H Pilates.

 

This book would soon catapult her into a very dynamic and fulling career in integrated movement and somatic therapy.

 

She began her formal Pilates training in 1997 first with Stott Pilates and then a two-year training with Michele Larson of Core Dynamics who carried on the tradition of Eve Gentry, a Pilates elder, who worked with Joseph Pilates from 1938-1968.

 

She studied with some of Pilates's original disciples, Ron Flecher and Kathy Grant, and continues to study with many of the great Pilates teachers of today. 

 

With a deep interest in therapeutic, rehabilitative, and functional movement as it relates to the body/mind, she went on to study Movement Analysis, Laban-Bartenieff Fundamentals, the work of Moshe Feldenkrais, Craniosacral, Mind-Body-Centering, Somato Emotional Release, Myofascial Release, along with many other somatic therapies.

 

She began her yoga and meditation practice in the early 90s. studying Hatha, Restorative, Yin, and Prana Vinyasa with Shiva Rea. She has over 800YTT hours.

In 2003 she studied Gyrotonic & Gyrokinesis with Leda Franklin and inventor Juliu Horvath.

 

Using her wide depth of knowledge of integrative therapies she spent 11 years in Costa Rica where she assisted hundreds of individuals from all walks of life heal anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and addictions of all kinds. 

 

She has lived and worked in Bermuda, NYC, & Buffalo, NY and for over a decade, she has traveled the world leading transformational workshops and retreats.
